UltraSilit®
Recycled Glass for Insulation Materials
- Directly marketable product purity
- Material recovery rate of up to 85 %
- Popular material for insulation materials
- Particularly fine grain size
Modern energy-efficient building concepts are almost inconceivable without insulation materials. Foam glass made from recycled materials is particularly popular.
What Are the Possible Uses of UltraSilit®?
Our UltraSilit® is a high-purity recycled glass with a fine grain size. It was specially developed for use in foam glass-based insulating materials, but could theoretically also be applied in other areas. It is predestined for the production of insulation materials, as the different colour compositions of the fine components do not have to be taken into account. In addition, the strict criteria regarding the type of glass do not apply in this growth market, in difference to the production of glass bottles from recycled glass. UltraSilit® is so pure that it can be processed directly into insulating materials without further treatment.

Why IS UltraSilit® a Building Material of the Future?
UltraSilit® can be further processed into cellular glass or glass wool. Insulation boards made of cellular glass are in particularly high demand for the realisation of energy-efficient buildings. There are various reasons for this:
- Thermal insulation
Insulation materials made of cellular glass are so effective that a 14 cm thick insulation is sufficient to comply with the Building Energy Act.
- Fire protection
Insulation materials made of cellular glass fulfil the criteria of the highest fuel class (A1).
- Noise protection
The high density of the material even insulates penetrating sound waves.
Insulation materials made of cellular glass are also durable and easy to process.
Against the backdrop of rising energy prices and more sustainable building concepts, demand for UltraSilit® can therefore be expected to remain high.

What Makes UltraSilit® so Special?
UltraSilit® consists of the glass fraction from waste incineration plants. Until now, however, this valuable recycled glass has mainly been landfilled with the bottom ash. Only the innovative IRRT process makes large-scale recovery as a fully-fledged raw material economically viable. Even the finest glass particles of less than 1 mm are separated from the previously processed bottom ash using modern near-infrared technology.
