The new BACKHUS ALPHA 55 offers you tried-and-tested concepts combined with state-of-the-art technology. Fully Automated Turning
Our BACKHUS have always been self-propelled and did not require a tractor – the new BACKHUS ALPHA 55 marks the beginning of the self-propelled as well as self-drivingwindrow turners.

Remote Control
Would you like to take manual control of your new BACKHUS ALPHA 55? This is easily possible using the remote control. A tablet serves as the central control unit. It displays all the important information needed to monitor automatic operation:

Volume Evaluation
- The BACKHUS ALPHA 55 uses its sensors not only for automated movement, but also to scan the windrow volume. This provides you with detailed information about the material amount on your site and allows you to track exactly how the volume changes, for example due to biodegradation.
Range Forecast
- Energy consumption depends on the material being handled and therefore varies from site to site. To ensure that the machine does not start turning a windrow when the battery level is too low, a reference windrow is turned during initial commissioning and the process parameters are used to provide an accurate range forecast.
Innovative Lighting Concept
- Optimum visibility of the machine thanks to long-lasting LED strips around the machine body
- Visual signals: LED strips light up during operation and turn red in the event of disturbance
Hydraulic Rear Flap
- Reduces the windrow offset at the start of the turning process

Adaptive rotor adjustment
- While turning, the BACKHUS ALPHA 55 adjusts the speed of the rotor continuously. In addition, the rotor is reversed as required and its height is adjusted independently of the frame. This ensures a very consistent process quality and optimises energy consumption.
Maintenance Platforms
- The integrated platforms make maintenance easier. You can fold out a ladder once the hoods are opened and you have free access to all components.

Options
Concentrate Spraying System
- With a concentrate spraying system, the BACKHUS ALPHA 55 can inoculate the material in a targeted manner during transport and thus accelerate the composting process, for example.
Irrigation System
- Together with the automatically winding and unwinding BACKHUS HD hose reel, the BACKHUS ALPHA 55 can water the material itself while turning it.
XL Track Clearer
The maximum windrow width can be increased by 0.3 m using an XL track clearer. This enables optimum space utilisation.
Steel Plates
- The tracks can be equipeed with steel plates for better traction and reduced wear on unpaved surfaces.
