About us
The sustainable utilisation of resources is of great importance in today's world. Organic and green waste are often underestimated raw materials, particularly from an economic and ecological point of view.
We enable you to utilise the full potential of organic waste or biomass. Our BEKON plants produce biogas using naturally occurring microorganisms. The fermented material is then composted and processed into a high-quality organic fertiliser.
Our innovative technologies enable local authorities and waste disposal companies to return organic waste to nature's nutrient cycle. At the same time, the regenerative energy potential contained in the waste is optimally utilised.

We are there for you in all service phases: we guarantee you a customised plant concept tailored to your individual requirements. We construct your plant as far as possible in series with modular assemblies. This saves time and costs so that you can put your plant into operation quickly. We also offer you a service contract with regular maintenance intervals and short audits. On request, we can even take over the operation of your plant for you.
Our robust processes also stand for maximum plant safety, rationalised process sequences and high gas yields.
There are two different dry fermentation processes – we offer you both. The decision depends entirely on your input material. This means you get exactly the plant that is best for you. Thanks to the serial design in modules, we can also customise the plant to suit your material volume. This also allows for flexible expansions. In addition, our standardised design reduces the construction time and therefore also the costs.
Our company has been based in Unterföhring near Munich since 1992. Eight of our approximately 30 employees still work here. You can find most of us at the site of the Eggersmann Anlagenbau (plant engineering) in Bad Oeynhausen today.

BEKON became part of the Eggersmann Group in 2016 and since then we have been working closely with Eggersmann Anlagenbau. Within the group, we are the experts in the production of biogas from biological waste. Together with the other companies in the Eggersmann recycling division, we can offer complete biological waste treatment – from processing to biogas production and composting – from a single source.
BEKON was founded in 1992 and quickly became a global technology leader in the construction of batch biogas plants for generating energy from waste. When it was integrated into the group in 2016, the company already had more than 40 patents to its name. These are continuously being increased through ongoing research and development. The first complete BEKON plant was connected to the grid in 2003 and has been operating successfully ever since.
KOMPOFERM was Eggersmann Anlagenbau's own brand for biogas production using dry fermentation. Just like BEKON, KOMPOFERM was a single-stage process in batch operation. With SMARTFERM, there was even a semi-mobile plant concept, which is still offered as an advanced version today in the form of the BEKON Mini. After BEKON became part of the Eggersmann Group, KOMPOFERM was largely absorbed into BEKON.
